Polymeric Composite Materials have been used in boats, ships, submarines and offshore structures for the last fifty-five years. This paper overviews the polymer reinforcement of various fibres and the particles are investigated for their impact strength, energy intensity, the efficiency of the composite structure, ultimate strength, deformations, bending strength and impact resistance. After reviewing the natural fibre reinforcement, the fibre structure and its mechanical and thermal properties are reviewed.
