<Abstract>The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a major obstacle to the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) illnesses because it limits the transport of most therapeutic medicines to the brain. Intranasal medication administration is a potential non-invasive approach that bypasses the BBB through olfactory and trigeminal pathways, allowing direct transfer of medicines into the brain. Recent breakthroughs in nanotechnology led to the creation of innovative intranasal nanocarriers which can increase nasal residence duration, enhance bioavailability, provide controlled drug release and targeted delivery of drugs to the brain and increase the stability of drugs.
