      <Abstract>In this paper, a Sehgal-Guseman-type fixed point theorem is proven in b-rectangular metric spaces. This provides a complete solution to an open problem posed by Zoran D. Mitrovic regarding a Banach`s fixed point theorem in b-rectangular metric space and b-metric spaces. the result generalizes and unifies certain findings in fixed point theory.</Abstract>
